Backstage at Wedgewood Houston's The Truth
Live Nation's Wedgewood-Houston venue, The Truth, is set to open for its first show Oct. 1. Ahead of the opening, the Business Journal got a sneak peek at the venue. Here's a look at the view from the various levels, the Vinyl Lounge, the rooftop deck, the setlist press and more.
When building The Truth, Live Nation wanted to make the venue as simple and intimate as possible, while staying true to Nashville’s music roots.
Touches of Music City can be seen around every turn, denim curtains for the stage, lyrics from that day’s show on the lyric chandelier in the lobby, records from neighbor United Record Pressing on the walls and shelves of the Vinyl Room, a Dolly Parton pinball machine in the artist lounge backstage, and beef for the burgers locally sourced from Bear Creek Farm.
“Our goal all along, or at least my goal all along, was to build a room that was just signature Nashville, that wouldn't make any sense anywhere else,” Sally Williams, president of Nashville music and business strategy for Live Nation, told the Business Journal. “I think we got really lucky with Wedgewood Houston because Wedgewood Houston is a Nashville neighborhood.”
