Wedgewood Houston Keeps its Edge, as Development Explodes

The neighborhood used to be full of car towing and storage lots, quiet homes sized around 800 to 900 square feet. But Wedgewood Houston is no longer the same industrial-use area it was when Councilman Colby Sledge purchased his home there over 10 years ago.

While the original industrial uses of the neighborhood have largely left, the remnants of its history create a unique feel to the area, positioning Wedgewood Houston to continue developing as one of Nashville's increasingly sought-after neighborhoods.

The most dramatic change Sledge has noticed in the last 10 years is in the northern portion of the neighborhood, where he said unused land that had been vacant for years is being transformed into local businesses and housing.
